Garage Door Makes A Lot Of Noise

We had our garage door replaced last fall with a new door and all new hardware.

It is not uncommon for old metal rollers to make a lot of noise as they roll up and down the metal track. Cleaning and removing the soil particles from the track will allow the door to open and close more smoothly. Start with a visual inspection of the sections panels looking for any signs of dents bending creases or cracks in each panel. When inspecting the track ensure that you also check out the door rollers. However if the noise continues another source of the popping noise you hear coming from your garage door could be because the torsion springs are broken.

This wear could damage the roller surface causing them not to roll correctly. It was extremely quiet at the time but now it is starting to be a lot louder. Using a wrench and socket set to retighten these bolts and screws can potentially quiet the garage door almost completely. Squeaky garage door or garage door grinding sound when opening or closing if you hear a garage door grinding noise it could be the rollers.

A loud garage door opener that makes a lot of noise is for some people a slight nuisance and for others a reason to wake up at night.
